Ireland Rugby Legend and long-standing Children’s Health Foundation Ambassador, Rob Kearney and his wife Jess Redden recently visited Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin to meet with staff and patients who are benefitting from the funds raised by his incredibly successful testimonial dinner – ‘Kearney4Crumlin’.

The funds raised were used to purchase vital medical equipment needed in Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin.
The equipment funded included two Ultrasound Machines for theatre, patient-controlled pain relief (PCA) pumps and an Optia Apheresis System. During their visit Rob and Jess met with Dr David Greaney, Consultant Anaesthesia Medicine and Head of Anaesthesia in CHI at Crumlin, Dr Caoimhe Casby, Consultant Anaesthetist, Sarah Flaherty (Advanced Nurse Practitioner- ANP Pain Management and Clinical Nurse Manager Noeleen Comey who each told of the benefits and impact of the new medical equipment. They then went on to meet Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin patients who have been benefactors of the newly purchased PCA Pumps.
Speaking of the visit Rob Kearney says “When I started preparing to fundraise for Crumlin Health foundation back in 2022, as part of my retirement from professional rugby, I had no idea the impact it would have on the hospital or on me personally.
To visit the hospital last week, and see the equipment purchased, the energy from the staff who explained the impact and of course the contribution it has made to the children’s lives, made me very proud”
Hugh Kane, Interim Chief Executive at Children’s Health Foundation said “Rob has been a longstanding friend and ambassador for Children’s Health Foundation for more than 10 years, and we are so incredibly grateful for his ongoing support. The funds raised at the ‘Kearney4Crumlin’ event have funded vital and lifesaving medical equipment right here in Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin and we’re so pleased that Rob and Jess have been able to join us and see first-hand the incredible impact this equipment has for our patients and staff every day. I would like to say a huge thank you to Rob, for his continued support and dedication to help sick children and their families.”
