Finn's Fairy Cakes

Does anything beat a classic fairy cake? Finn thinks not and we agree! Check out this delicious recipe below for the quintessential bake sale goodie.

Try them with buttercream icing, maybe chocolate is more to your liking? No problem! There are so many ways to make a simple fairy cake a thing of beauty and you can be guaranteed, they’ll always taste great!

Ingredients

• 100g caster sugar

• 100g very soft butter

• 100g self-raising flour

• 2 eggs

• 1 tsp vanilla extract

• Sprinkles, marshmallows etc.

Method

1. Put a paper case in each hole of your bun tin. Then ask a grown-up helper to turn the oven on to 180C/160C fan/gas 4.

2. Add the sugar and butter in a bowl and mix it together. Sift in the flour to the bowl.

3. Crack the eggs into a separate bowl (make sure no bits of shell fall in) and add them to the bowl with the sugar, butter and vanilla extract. Now you need to use your muscles to mix everything together.

4. Pour the mix into the cases using a spoon, scraping it off with a knife. Ask a grown-up helper to put the tray in the oven for 20 minutes.

5. Let the cakes cool in the tray. Now the fun part, decorate the fairy buns with chocolate, marshmallows, sprinkles, or whatever you like!
