When Champions Visit, Every Child Wins: Children's Health Foundation Celebrates Four Weeks of Sporting Inspiration in CHI Hospitals.

Over the past month, Children’s Health Foundation has welcomed all four of Ireland’s newly crowned All-Ireland champions through the doors of Temple Street and Crumlin, in what is a well-loved Irish tradition, bringing unforgettable moments of joy, hope and inspiration to hundreds of sick children and their families.

From Temple Street to Crumlin, players from some of Ireland’s biggest sporting teams took time away from their victory celebrations to meet children receiving treatment, chat with families, pose for photographs and share precious moments that will be remembered long after the final whistle.

While the visits created memorable photos, Children’s Health Foundation says their impact reaches far beyond a photo opportunity.

For many children spending long periods of time in hospital, meeting these sporting heroes provides a welcome distraction from treatment, reduces anxiety and creates positive memories during what can be an incredibly difficult time.

Healthcare teams across Crumlin and Temple Street regularly see first-hand the difference these visits make. Children who need a lift suddenly light up with excitement, families share precious moments together, and hospital wards are filled with laughter and celebration.

Over the past four weeks, hundreds of children, parents and staff had the opportunity to meet some of Ireland’s newest sporting champions, with every visit made possible through Children’s Health Foundation’s commitment to creating brighter hospital experiences for sick children.

Children’s Health Foundation works throughout the year to fund projects and experiences that make hospital a brighter place for children and families, recognising that emotional wellbeing is an important part of the healthcare journey.

The Foundation also thanked every team, player, management group and sporting organisation who gave their time so generously over the past month.

As another All-Ireland season comes to a close, the lasting legacy of these visits won’t be measured in medals or trophies, but in the smiles, they brought to children facing some of their toughest days.
