Summer Appeal 2025
Help Kids be Kids
This Summer, your support can help get kids back to being kids like Chloe.
Chloe’s Story
Chloe has a genetic condition that causes tumours to grow along her nerves.
What this means for Chloe is immense pain. Frequent migraines and regular flare-ups of arthritis make daily activities difficult. She often has to miss school, and spends a lot of time in bed, rather than being out with her friends or playing sports.
Her mum, Lisa, says: “When things are especially bad, Chloe will sometimes ask me why – why she has to be like this, why she can’t be like her friends – and I just don’t know what to tell her.”
With the help of her healthcare team, Chloe is able to manage her condition through various pain management treatments. These can ease Chloe’s agony—and even stop it entirely, at least for a while—which is life-changing in itself. It means she can get back to being a kid.
When Chloe has stayed in hospital, she’s done a lot of work with the play department, and she really loves it. The teams come and do colouring with her, or jigsaws, making artwork, and so much more.
Lisa says: “I really think it is so important for kids to be kids, especially when they are going through a hard time. This is exactly what the play department has done for Chloe.”
Please give what you can today, so that other sick and injured children—and their families—can get the world-class care they need. So that kids can be kids, rather than having their days defined by their health challenges.
