Tesco Ireland Partnership with Children’s Health Foundation
Tesco Ireland has partnered with Children’s Health Foundation Temple Street since 2014, giving every sick child the best possible chance.
Over that time, Tesco has raised an incredible €11 million, funding life-saving equipment including a new EEG system for Children’s Health Ireland at Temple Street’s Neurological Department. The largest piece of equipment funded to date is the new CT Scanner.
Our partnership with Tesco is multi-faceted. Below are the different ways Tesco raises its life-saving donations and how you can get involved:
Deposit Return Scheme
Children’s Health Foundation is one of seven charities benefiting from Tesco’s Deposit Return Scheme. Shoppers can donate their bottle and can refunds at Tesco stores, helping to raise up to €1 million this year. These funds will support vital projects for sick children and their families while also encouraging recycling.
Christmas Teddy
Each Christmas, Tesco creates and sells a cuddly teddy in aid of Children’s Health Foundation. The teddy’s name is always chosen by a Children’s Health Ireland patient, and it goes on sale in the run-up to Christmas. Keep an eye on our social media channels for the teddy!
Tesco Bouquets
Throughout the year, Tesco sells two special bouquets of flowers, with a portion of the sale price donated to Children’s Health Foundation. These bouquets are priced at €10 and €15 and are available in Tesco stores nationwide.
Golf Classic
Every summer, Tesco invites its partners and suppliers to take part in a Golf Classic at Dún Laoghaire Golf Club. This highly engaging event allows Tesco’s stakeholders to get involved and help ensure every sick child has the best possible chance.
Tesco Charity Cycle
Tesco colleagues and suppliers take part in an annual sponsored cycle. This is a huge challenge and a highly engaging event that raises vital funds for life-saving equipment.
Christmas Light Up
Each year, Tesco helps transform the hospital into a Christmas wonderland for patients and their families. A DJ plays festive songs, a choir performs carols, and Santa arrives with his helpers to switch on the lights alongside a patient and their family. Santa then visits the wards with Tesco colleagues to deliver presents to children who couldn’t make it down to the event.
Tesco Tokens
You can donate your Tesco Clubcard tokens to help support sick children and their families in Children’s Health Ireland hospitals and urgent care centres. Tesco Ireland has been our proud charity partner for 11 years, raising over €10 million with the support of colleagues and customers.
