Meet Alice
“She would never identify as being a sick child.”
Alice is 11. She loves swimming, tennis and hip hop dancing, and she was diagnosed with Crohn's disease when she was around three and a half.
Every five weeks, Alice has an infusion at CHI at Crumlin and Connolly Hospital. Her mum, Yvonne, says the treatment “has completely changed her life”. Her energy dips in the week before an infusion, but she leaves hospital “bouncing off the walls”.
After nine years of visits, the nurses feel “like family”, and the play specialists keep Alice busy with the things she loves, like hip hop. Yvonne is proudest that Alice has “never allowed Crohn's disease to define her”.
Every raffle ticket helps fund the care, play and support that make hospital visits easier for children like Alice.
