Irish Rugby Hero Josh van der Flier Makes Visit To Sick Children at Crumlin Hospital

There were smiles all around at Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) at Crumlin as Irish rugby hero Josh van der Flier paid a special visit to meet with young patients, their families, and hospital staff.

The visit brought much joy and encouragement to all the patients, with Josh taking time to chat with the children and pose for photos. One particularly touching moment occurred when Josh met 15-year-old Lana, a passionate rugby fan who was thrilled to meet her hero.

“It’s always a privilege to spend time with the patients and their families.” said Josh. “These children show such incredible courage every day. It means a lot to be able to share a few moments that bring a smile or a bit of joy.”

Fionnuala O’Leary, Chief Executive Officer of Children’s Health Foundation, said: “Josh’s visit meant so much to the young patients and their families. Hospital stays for children can mean that they’re missing out on normal childhood moments. It’s incredible that an inspirational ambassador like Josh volunteers his time to bring a smile to these children’s faces. Moments like this really do help relieve some of the anxiety of a hospital stay for young patients.”

Children’s Health Foundation supports sick children and their families across CHI hospitals and urgent care centres at Crumlin, Temple Street, Tallaght, and Connolly.
