Plan your day

Christmas is coming soon, but we want you to start the celebrations early! That’s why we’re asking you to celebrate Christmas Jumper Day with us on 8th December.

If you’re in an education setting, you can get your classmates or students to wear a Christmas Jumper on the day and donate. Same with your workplace – have a Crass or Classy Christmas Jumper competition and see who wins. If you’re a member in a club, you can have training session or a Christmas Blitz wearing Christmas Jumpers, maybe even turn up to play the opposition in Christmas Jumpers! Bridge players, this is the ideal fundraiser for you. Hold one of your club competitions in Christmas Jumpers and donate to help our sick children

Your support will ensure that even more money goes towards the purchase of essential equipment in our theatres, wards and patient services for seriously ill children in our Children’s Health Ireland Hospitals and urgent care centres.

It’s your chance to put on your favourite Christmas jumper and do something really extraordinary for some of Ireland’s sickest children. It couldn’t be easier, check out our steps below.

Meet Iarla

When Iarla was born he was critically ill and was immediately transferred to Holles Street Hospital where he was diagnosed with congenital heart defect. At just over two weeks old, Iarla underwent life saving open-heart surgery. Thankfully, the surgery was hugely successful.

By the time Iarla was just four months old, his parents noticed some changes to his skull. He was sent straight to Children’s Health Ireland at Temple Street and given an immediate diagnosis of Craniosynostosis, a condition that without intervention, impacts brain and skull growth. Iarla’s Mum Sinead said, “It was hard to believe that we were on another serious medical journey with our little boy within such a short space of time”.

Just a few weeks shy of his first birthday, Iarla underwent his second round of successful life-saving surgery to correct the issues to his Skull.

“We were equally indebted to the fantastic staff in Children’s Health Ireland at Temple Street. Their kindness and care at such a difficult time is the most important thing in the world, They are all very special people and we will remain eternally grateful to them” – Sinead Iarla’s Mum.
